Detection of Wakashio oil spill off Mauritius using Sentinel-1 and 2 data: Capability of sensors, image transformation methods and mapping

Oil spill incidents contaminate water bodies, and damage the coastal marine environment including coral reefs mangroves, therefore, monitoring oil spills is highly important. This study discriminates Wakashio spill, which occurred off Mauritius, located in Indian Ocean on August 06, 2020 using Sentinel-1 2 data acquired before, during after to understand spreading of assess its impact environment.
